The Trainers of Pastors International
Coalition (TOPIC) Philippines is an offshoot of the Second International
TOPIC Consultation held in March 1999 at the Subic Bay Freeport
in Zambales. During that historic event, participants representing
one hundred organizations convened to address how to meet the need
for equipping the 2,000,000 shepherds worldwide who have never completed
a formal theological training.
In the said consultation, representatives of organizations based
in the Philippines gathered to form a National Coordinating Council
(NCC) for TOPIC Philippines. Initiated by Bishop Efraim M. Tendero
and led by Philip C. Flores, the NCC was tasked to conduct a follow-up
conference to bring together a broader group of organizations involved
in non-formal training in the country. Hence, TOPIC Philippines
was formally established in a national consultation held on October
12015, 1999 at the Christian Development Centre in Tagaytay City. |
